Desso, the global carpet, carpet tiles and sports pitches company, with over 25 years of experience in creating aviation carpet has equipped the cabin of the first Boeing 787 Dreamliner in the Netherlands with an especially for Arke developed Wilton woven airplane carpet. Arke is the first Dutch Airline operator to add a 787 Dreamliner to its airplane fleet. Desso delivered its aviation carpet with a self-adhesive backing, providing Arke a maximum efficient carpet solution, which is a perfect fit in the 787 innovative aircraft.
Lower total cost of ownership
“The Boeing 787 sets itself apart from other aircrafts due to its eco efficient design, the same can be said for the Desso self-adhesive carpet”, says Roland Jonkhoff managing director Desso. “Our new Desso engineered product was developed driven by our innovation programme based on the three pillars of Creativity, Functionality and Cradle to Cradle® design to offer our customers an efficient and stylish flooring solution”. The Desso carpet with its self-adhesive backing results in a lower total cost of ownership, because of easier handling and faster installation, offering airline operators carpets with exceptional functionality. The self-adhesive solution also eliminates the need for tape and helps with easier removal as it doesn’t leave any residue on the aircraft floor panels when it is removed after use, making this an cost efficient flooring solution, not only for the new 787 but for all kinds of aircrafts.
Self-adhesive backing from Desso
Although initially developed for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the self-adhesive backing functionality can now be applied to all Desso aviation carpets, meaning that the self-adhesive backing is available for the Desso nylon, lightweight nylon and wool products as well as for the carpets made with a blend of 80% wool and 20% nylon, the self-adhesive backing still allows for the unlimited design possibilities, which Desso is known for by its customers.
